#QuarantineReady – Work from Home Tool Kit

Unexpected changes can be challenging to manage. If you are finding the transition into social distancing and remote work hard to navigate, we’ve collected some resources and tools that you may find useful during these times. As always, you can call upon our team to start #makingtecheasy for YOU.

Remote Toolkit

Resources:
LinkedIn Learning – LinkedIn Learning has a whole series dedicated to Work from Home. Videos include Time Management, Conquering home challenges, Tips & Tricks, and more.
• NPR – 8 Tips for Working at Home from their Life Kit team.
KnowBe4 – We highly recommend their gratis “Home Internet Security Course” for a refresh on your Cyber Security Awareness. Use the password “homecourse” for access.
Lansing Regional Chamber of Commerce Members: If you are a member, take advantage of the Lansing Chamber FedEx and UPS discount. They also have additional resources and guidance specific to COVID-19 that they are offering to assist Lansing organizations.

Staff and Meeting Collaboration:
Microsoft Teams – MS Teams offers messenger and video chat to keep staff connected. Teams also syncs with Outlook calendars to quickly show colleagues’ statuses such as in a meeting, away, or available.
Zoom – Zoom is a popular tool for phone and video conferencing. Zoom also offers background screens to block any background, room, or setting when not in an ideal place. Here is their page to help you orient during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are also impressed that they have offered their services for free to K-12 institutions across the USA. If you are a K-12 School – you can register for this here.

Cloud File and Data:

Microsoft OneNote – The hidden gem of Microsoft Office, OneNote has your digital note-taking needs covered. This piece of software is essentially a digital notebook in which you can organize or visualize your ideas using text, video, audio, and other multimedia sources.
DocuSign or Adobe Sign – Sign and send documents remotely. Easy to use and easy online courses!
DropBox for Business – Place files in the cloud for collaboration and access from anywhere.
Box– Another cloud storage option for files storage.
Email Encryption – Send confidential and sensitive data protected. This is very important as attackers take advantage of these vulnerable times.

Community Resources:
• Meals for Kids- There is an online map for families to find locations where meals are being provided during the school closure. The map can be found at: https://www.mcgi.state.mi.us/schoolnutrition/.
• Pandemic Assistance Programs- Local community banks are starting to offer relief assistance programs for both members and non-members. Check your local community credit union.

If there is anything you find your organization needs to adapt to the current workscape, please reach out. We are proud to be your partner, and look forward to working through this together.
